For a distributed rooftop project for MGVCL, various customers had diverse needs and apprehensions that needed to be addressed.
Commercial buildings and residential societies expressed a concern that installing solar panels would damage their roofs and cause leakages during monsoon.
KCPL Solar addressed these fears by installing specially designed precast concrete blocks that would not only allay all fears of leakage but would even protect the roof from damage during periods of high wind velocity.
Some owners wanted to retain the ability to put the roof to productive use. In these cases, structures erect to mount the solar panels. The installation was done in compliance with IS standards to ensure that the weight was within permissible limits.
Suitable mounting arrangements were made for industrial roofs with sheets. Even with such attention to detail and diversity of solutions, KCPL Solar successfully commissioned 3.54 MW (till March 2015) in the first phase and subsequent 0.49 MW in the next three months, aggregating 4.03 MW.
